Girl Scout Farm Day

A few weeks ago our troop went to UC Davis and visited their small farm. The college girls were great. They had set up many activities for the girls to do, including flipping a sheep.(I don't know how happy the sheep was...lol) The girls had a great time.

It's hard to believe that our "baby"is ten!!! Where does the time go? What a great ten years it has been. I feel so lucky to be her mom. She is such a loving and smart girl. She is so fun to be around. I am looking forward to many more decades with this girl and all the fun adventures we will have together!

We love you Kyleigh and are so proud that you are our daughter!

Kyleigh got a special package in the mail today. It was from her Grandma Sandra. She had made an outfit for Kyleigh's American Girl doll! Kyleigh was very excited and mom was very impressed on how well it was made. Thanks Grandma, you made Kyleigh's day!

Kyleigh and I flew in very late last night. Lee was already in bed but had left us each a bouquet of flowers. It was very sweet. I must add that the house was immaculate as well! It was obvious that he missed us. We missed him too.

Kyleigh's main gift was her American Girl doll. She hasn't been into dolls before this, but apparently this is a big deal with girls her age. She was very surprised that she got it. I had told her there was no way we were buying it for her!

Gingerbread House

Lee and Kyleigh decided to make a gingerbread house today. It was a Girl Scout project that Kyleigh missed since we were in Tahoe. She was planning on doing it up there, but decided to wait until she got home. It was fun and delicious!

Lee, Kyleigh and I were able to get away for a few days this past week. (Thanks Dad for watching the dogs!) It started snowing the day before we drove up to Tahoe. Kyleigh had a lot of fun playing in the snow, sledding, trying to make a snowman and hanging out in the kids activity center at our timeshare. Lee and I were glad to get some much needed family time. It was a great mini-vacation!

My good friend Cindy surprised Kyleigh and Kinsey(her daughter) with an early Christmas present. They got to make their own gingerbread ornaments. She even bought them their own baking utensils!!! They had about 7 hours of fun!!! (This worked out well for me and Cindy, too!) What a creative idea! The kids had so much fun. We are lucky to have such great friends:)

The week before Thanksgiving, Kyleigh and I were able to go down to SD to visit My BFF and her family. The day that Cindy had to work, I watched the kiddos and we had a great time. Kyleigh and Ellie had fun making chocolate chip cookies. Ellie even cracked an egg perfectly! We were so impressed! The girls had fun doing Kyleigh's hair and we all had a great time outside. Cindy and Chris have a fabulous front yard :)

I thought I would share with you some pictures of Kyleigh playing soccer. One of the dads on the soccer team is a professional photographer and took these! Notice in some pictures that Kyleigh is the goalie. This is a new postition that she is playing. She has been quite a good sport about it and done pretty well! (personally I would not like having a ball kicked at me at full force and this is probably why I did not play soccer!!) Kyleigh really loves this sport. We are so happy she found something she loves and are also happy that it is fun to watch!!!

So, yet again it has taken me forever to post. I tend to be more of a monthly blogger than a weekly, oh well. One of the reasons I have been too busy to blog is that Lee and I have decided to look into the foster/adopt program. Our main reason is to expand our family. We started this process(long process) in late September. We had a busy October with many classes to attend, a house to get in order an inspected and now a social worker to evaluate us for the next few months. It was a crazy month. We hope to be placed with a child(or children) by early next year. We put 0-6 for our age requirement and girls, mainly because we already have Kyleigh and have only been around girls for the past nine years. We have tried so long and hard to have our own baby with no success, and could still pursue yet more fertility treatments, but we are starting to believe that maybe God has his own plan for us and that we are suppose to go this route to find our children. We'll keep everyone posted. For now, here are a couple of pages of pictures!!! Enjoy!(who knows when I will post next!!! LOL)

Fall is here!!! I love fall, it is probably my favorite time of year. Spring is a close second. We have had some nice rains already. Lee is in heaven. The dogs however, as you can see, were wondering why they could not go out in the backyard. I love the holiday season and can't wait for it to be here!

We went to the Downtown Roseville Halloween Carnival. I can't say I would go again. It was mostly vendors. We did get to see a magic show however!! LOL...Personally I do not like magic, and I can not stand clowns!! So what better than a clown performing magic!! It was a painful hour. Kyleigh liked it...

We had a great time having Lee's mom visit. We went to the new Fountain's mall, Bishop's Pumkin Farm, and as you can see we went to P.F. Chang's Chinese restaurant, where Sandra tried using chop stix for the first time!!! It was a fun week!

Kyleigh and I started a new church about 6 weeks ago. We love St. Matthew's Lutheran church and feel it is a great fit for us. Unfortunately Lee has to work on Sundays but he will join us when he can. These are a couple of pic's taken at the picnic they had. The pastor was such a sport to be the first in the dunk tank! Kyleigh actually hit the mark and dunked him! We had a great day! :)

Horse Races!

Lee, Kyleigh and I were excited that Sacramento brought back horseracing. We have loved going when we lived in San Diego. Kyleigh loves to see all the horses and Lee and I usually put down a few $2 bets. My horse won the first race(I made $2.40! LOL) and Kyleigh liked the name of a horse on the last race. It was somewhat of a long shot but we put down a small bet. Sure enough, it won! Kyleigh was quite excited. It was a fun day. It was also connected to the state fair so we went there for about an hour.

Summer is offically over in our household. Kyleigh went back to school today! I can't believe she is a fourth grader. She reminded me that she only has two years left until middle school. Sounds far off, but I know how fast time goes in the school year! I will try to not think about middle school yet and just enjoy my fourth grader!

Summer vacation is almost over for Kyleigh. She will go back to school on the 11th. It is hard to believe that she is starting the fourth grade! Where does the time go. We had so much fun hanging out together and the weather was actually nice for them! This last week my nieces Monica and Meghan are staying with us. We visited the new shopping mall called The Fountains. It was nice and the girls got to cool off as well! To end the night the girls made some brownies! Yumm...

Kyleigh is quite the reader. One of her favorite things to do is go to the bookstore! She will gladly spend her $ on books over other things. I know seeing the updated blog will shock most of you! Apparently, I decided to take a two month hiatus. Our updated pictures start from most recent to back in August when we went to San Diego. All the new pictures take up three pages, so make sure to click on "older posts" to see them all! It is embarrassing that it has taken me this long to get back on our blog but as many of you know, the same night Kyleigh and I got back from our San Diego trip my step-mom(Grandma Donna) had a severe stroke and passed away a few days later. This of course shook us all up, since it was very unexpected. For awhile, I can say this made me not want to post on our blog. But, life does go on, as you will see, and Donna would have been the first one to say that. She will be forever missed. So, I hope you all enjoy the photos! I had a lot of fun posting them! I also promise there will not be another 2 month break!!

Walking School Bus!!

This was a first for Roseville schools! Coyote Ridge had the first walking school bus! This was done on Wed. Oct. 3rd. Students met at different locations,were met by volunteers, then walked to school. This was to promote "Spare the Air Day"! What a great idea and terrific exercise! Kyleigh walked a mile and a half!

Kyleigh got Coyote of the Month at her school! We are so proud of her, not only is she a great student but she is such a kind and loving little girl! She was so excited to get that award and have her dad there to see her get it! The ceremony was on one of his days off!
